Profile of the work and history of the Universties' Mission to Central Africa in their fight against the "evils of ignorance and superstition", principally in Zanzibar.

The film gives an overview of the history and people of Zanzibar, particularly as a centre of the slave trade, and the UMCA's work in the area. It shows the spread of work onto the mainland in Tanganyika territory, focussing on the spread of churches, schools, training colleges and health. The film ends with an appeal for helping the work of the UMCA.
