Synopsis
A history of the Rhodesian parliament and of Rhodesia's political development. It begins with various shots in the city of Salisbury, lauding the fact that old buildings are being pulled down. A history of the parliament building and the early government of Rhodesia is given. The interior of the parliament building is shown, along with portraits of previous Prime Ministers and a run down on their biographies. A brief chronological history is given of governmental decisions and involvement in Rhodesia's economy, the Federation of North and South Rhodesia and Nyasaland, the Kariba Dam project, the break-up of the Federation in 1963, and Smith's declaration of UDI and what led to it, followed by the 1969 referendum on a new republican constitution. Footage is shown of the interior of the Senate and a Senate debate in progress; also of the House of Assembly and business being conducted in it.
