Synopsis
INSTRUCTIONAL. Opens with views of mountains and coastline (67), a stream crossed by a wooden bridge and fringed with luxuriant vegetation (105) and an old Fiji warrior with his war club (134). Views of Suva from above follow (219) together with shots of the business section with its wharfs and godowns (265) and the harbour in which native boys are seen diving (287). A Melanesian native (321) and Polynesian natives are then shown (348), together with native houses (393) ans a woman eating sugar cane (432). A turtle hunt with sailing canoes follows (487), together with a captured turtle laid on its back in a smaller canoe (525). The carving and polishing of turtle shell is then shown (602) and the finished product - a hair comb (602). Primitive savages (656) are then compared with modern Fijians in white cotton clothes (676) and playing Rugby (694 ft).
