Synopsis

A record of a safari in East Africa.

No main title. "Owing to rains having set in we decide to go home and say goodbye to our scout". CU of African scout in pith helmet and with sharpended pointed teeth. Expedition member shakes hands with him (20). "How we found the Road". Van/lorry travels over watery track; gets stuck; Africans run to help free it (33). Three lorries stuck (53). Closer view of one of the lorries stuck in water; rain falls (60). Goods unpacked from lorry and carried off (89). Various manoeuvres for freeing vehicles from streams and swamps using rope and man power (275). A car almost submerged in a river; Africans. directed by an expedition member, try to push it free and succeed (304). CU of Africans pushing lorry, filmed from back (316). Another car submerged (338). "We sink a deadman to pull us through the river". Africans pull on rope through wooden, rudely-made contraption (345). Two lorries/cars pass through river (306). "Inch by B--- Inch". Pulling the cars through the river (475). "We are all over safely so we try to salve the Buick". Attempts are made to pull free the almost submerged Buick (485). Travelling shot of savannah (492). Travelling shot from train as it pulls into Kilindin railway station. Many Europeans in white outfits and pith helmets in evidence. "We see the last of Africa's shores". Cliffs and sea from boat (523ft).
