Synopsis

ACTUALITY. Indians gathering honey from trees.

L.S. man in top branches of a tree lowering a basket of honey to the ground (16). An Indian, at the foot of the tree, throws a rope into the branches. The honey gatherer climbs up the rope (42). Wearing protective clothing, he clambers towards a hive; he clears away the swarm of bees with a bundle of smoking twigs, then lowers lumps of honey in a basket. The process is repeated at another hive (130). The bees dispersing before the smoking twigs. The gatherer slices up the honey and lowers it to the ground (167). L.S. the gatherer climbing down the rope (190). The Indian at the foot of the tree places chunks of honey in a box (207). A group of Indians; the honey heating in large pots standing on long ovens in the earth (237 ft).
