Synopsis

INTEREST. Kandy, Sri Lanka: a temple set in trees. Pans left to right (69). A gateway with a small boy sweeping the steps. Elephants are carved either side of the entrance (87). People praying towards stars painted on the walls of the temple (124). A view up the temple steps - men coming and going (141). Another shot of the gateway (151). Five elephants with boys pass the camera. At the river, the elephants lie in the water and squirt water over themselves (318). Three men prepare a syringe with which to treat a sick elephant. The five elephants leave the river (399). The elephants display certain tricks. One of them walks on two legs. They lift the boys up on to their backs with their trunks (460ft).
