Synopsis
ACTUALITY. A lion hunt in East Africa.
"Native lion hunt" (2). An African on horseback canters towards the camera (9). African hunters walk through the bush, each carrying a spear and shield (35). Various shots of the hunters taking up positions in the bushes (42). MS lions running through the bush (45). "Simba Cherry Kearton's dog attacks the lion" (49). MS Mounted man gallops past, hunters advance through bushland (78). MCU hunters gather round the dead lion (88). The hunters disperse as the dead lion is dragged away, with a European in a pith helmet following (108). Various shots of the hunters standing round the lion (126). The European lights a cigarette (135). A hunter raises the head of the dead lion to the camera (143). "Dance of Triumph" (145). MS same (168). "The second lion attacks the Masais" (172). LS lion in the bush is followed by an African on horseback. The hunters advance towards the lion and it runs off (195). MLS the lion stops and goes to attack the hunters who then surround it (210). "The third lion runs away" (214). MS lion under a line of trees runs away (218). MCU hunters spearing a lion (252). MS hunters chasing a lion through a line of trees (258).
