Synopsis
ACTUALITY. Boer War. Three British cavalrymen ride from right to left across a flat landscape, with a group of cavalry in the distance (11). Jump-cut to a number of cavalrymen leading a covered wagon pulled by a team of six horses. Within the wagon the Boer general Piet Cronje (with hat and beard) looks out. The wagon is followed by a large number of cavalrymen armed with rifles (59ft).
Note: Cronje surrendered to Lord Roberts at Paardeberg on 27 February 1900. According to the Paul catalogue the British troops are members of the City Imperial Volunteers. The cameraman was Surgeon-Major Walter Beevor. Previously known as (BRINGING A CAPTURED BOER GENERAL ACROSS THE VELDT).
