Synopsis

AMATEUR FILM. The aftermath of the September 1937 typhoon which struck Hong Kong at 2am. The first ferry sailed at about 9am. Much footage was filmed that morning; the rest a day or two later. Thirteen ships were aground. The large Japanese ship aground at Lyemun was the `Asama Meru' which took six months to re-float.

Street scenes - people surveying the rubble. Collapsed bridge and pier. Ships run aground. Boys digging a rowing boat out of the sand. Collapsed advertising board. Ship sinking by harbour wall. Woman clearing wreckage in the street. Houses destroyed - thatched roofs blown away. More ships aground including the `Tumeric' of Glasgow. Rubble by roadside. People walking through rubble. People carrying branches and twigs. Man sawing through a log.
