Synopsis

Amateur film of William Butlin on holiday in Africa.

William Butlin is greeted by a European man as he arrives in his car. Nearby African dancers are doing a display in the street. Shot of WB filming them. Shots of another group of African dancers - girls in short straw skirts. A road sign reads "Kanunga Suza HQ; Lake Edward; Kambuga; Ruzjumbura" (which is in Uganda). WB with two male friends/colleagues. African dancers perfoming in front of a large tinsel decorated Christmas tree - WB attempts to play the drum of one of the performers. General shots of WB on safari - viewing wildlife, meeting native Africans, driving around in a jeep. WB with two African fishermen. Elephants, shots from a jeep on a pot-holed road. Native fishermen with nets in the sea. A tourist river boat. WB on a fishing expedition in a boat. Shot of a woman pounding grain. Shot of wildlife on the riverbed. Sequence again with WB and a friend with a fat cigar playing on large drums with African dancers in front of a Christmas tree. Ends with the following shots: a riverboat; with a park ranger/policeman; a waterhole; hippos; birds nests in trees and birdlife along the river.
