Synopsis

Promotional film highlighting work done at the Tanganyika Branch.

Pleaes note: film made 8 years after Tanganyikan RC started - in 1949 - hence film probably made in 1957 - Lady Limerick laying foundation stone (in 1951) - men's attachment learning first aid - hospital for disabled children & adults - being given exercises/therapy in the water - library trolley being taken around hospital - child with calipers and artificial limbs made by RC. RC member making a wooden leg - work party of women volunteers doing embroidery - welfare clinic for mothers and babies/ examination of baby. - mothers being given talk about hygiene, etc. - Arusha - Clinic - welfare clinic for mothers and babies - Tanga Division HQ - Red Cross Inspection - Firemen - trained by RC - doing an exercise; women's emergency team dealing with 'casualties'; men practicing handbags & stretcher work - Moshi Divisional building - trained African nurses - sign for 'Makete Leprosarium' - (opening of Leprosy Centre c. 1952 by Joan Whittington) - 'Clean Baby' clinic in Leprosy Centre (babies who have been isolated from their infected mothers for given period of time to avoid transfer of disease) - Leprosy patient mothers feeding their babies (mothers wearing special gowns to prevent transmission of disease)
