Synopsis

The rle of medical staff in the Royal Navy.

The various kinds of medical staff in the Navy are introduced - medical assistants (HMS Dido), medical officers, medical technicians and RN nurses. "Imagine yourself in their place." Training at Royal Naval Hospital, Haslow - anatomy and physiology, specialist exams eg physiotherapist, radiographer, lab technician, SRN. After graduation will serve in naval hospital or on large ship (HMS Albion). Three types of medical assistant: commando MA (working with Marines), Submarine MA, Naval MA (including ward work). Scenes of working routine at RN Hospital (Gibraltar), onboard commando carrier, at air station (HMS Seahawk - emergency drill), in dispensary, on frigate (casualty flown off in Wasp). Study and examinations. Specialists: dentists, theatre staff, radiographers. Chances of promotion.
