DEUX EMPIRES UNE FORCE

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: COI 15).

Synopsis

A propaganda short ("un trois-minutes") stressing the combined strength of the French and British Empires.

After a few brief shots of visiting English royalty in Paris to indicate the existence of the 'Entente Cordiale', the film consists only of animated maps and diagrams. These indicate the geographical and economic strength of the two Empires, and the mutual benefits they offer each other: the danger of external threats (eg German recovery of her former colonies in Africa, or Japanese or Italian expansion) to the Empires and so to the liberty of the whole world; the danger is blocked by the Empires' combination of their powers into "une seule et unique force."

Notes

Remarks: curious implicit attitude that owning blocks of territory is all there is to world dominance - population and trade figures are mentioned, but the film revolves round maps.
