the KING WITH THE RAF (ledger title)

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: COI 292).

Synopsis

King George VI and Queen Elizabeth review a parade of RAF personnel in the main street of a small English town.

The unedited film shows the arrival of the King and Queen; they review the parade, pausing to talk to individual airmen; the parade gives them 3 cheers, and breaks up to watch their departure. Besides covering the Royal inspection, the film includes close-ups of many airmen, of their 'wings' or specialisation badges, and of shoulder-flashes indicating country of origin (Singapore, Rhodesia, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, USA etc). Film could be of arrival of a group of Commonwealth Air Training Scheme trainees from Canada; location possibly Wendover.
