Synopsis

Unedited takes of fishing and fishermen in Kenya.

There are several sequences divided by makeshift 'slates'. (1) Static shot of natural harbour (river ?) with fishermen bringing their boat ashore. (2) Local people working with reeds and rushes. (3) building straw huts, Local man builds boat, while others work on large chevron-shaped baskets. Others are seen unloading their catches of lobsters from the sea. (4) Fish being prepared in workroom. Two men carry a marlin ashore. (5) Men row one of the giant baskets out to sea; boat in full sail. (6) Men submerge the baskets. (7) Further footage of basket fishing; contents of retrieved baskets sorted. (8) Further footage of them fishing at sea. (9) Flotilla of boats returns home. (10) Back to the land where people are building huts and repairing their boats.
