Synopsis

Film showing the importance of Yong Peng, with particular emphasis on the contrast between past, present and future.

The film begins by explaining how this thriving village was once a trouble spot plagued by Communist terrorists, but after resettlement is a centre of new industries, prosperous agriculture and happy family life. The film also shows that the people are free to manage their own affairs, and have recently selected a local council to run their village. Land being developed for crops and rubber being produced. Scenes of the school (which the villagers themselves raised 60,000 dollars for), the Women's Institute; adult evening classes and various other smaller industries and activities. The film concludes by saying that "pride in the new village has gripped most people... Yong Peng has shown how much can be done when people are prepared to work together".
