Synopsis

Government information film.

Four items. (1) 'Industrial Singapore - Tobacco'. Study of the process of cigarette manufacture, emphasising the large numbers produced and the speed of modern machine operations. End CU of local cigarette brands. (2) Shipbreaking. Government loans help a company to buy old vessels. New industry needs scrap iron - jobs and money from the death of a ship. (3) 'Children's Play-grounds'. Scheme to teach children elementary road safety with tricycles and pedal cars on a miniature circuit. (4) 'Crawford Park'. Film of the latest in a series of children's parks. A popular attraction for young and old, this "jewel of a park" transforms an ugly slum into a centre for family entertainment - further proof of the government's concern for the new generation.
