Synopsis

Easter Action on Bougainville (Solomon Islands).

Opening Titles: "...These grim pictures were taken under fire by an NZNFU Cameraman. We show them to remind you that the troops sweating and dying in the jungle will not easily understand or forgive any slacking on the home front." A patrol returns; American troops (some coloured) in dug-in positions; Major General Griswold, US Commanding Officer, confers with officers; Artillery firing (man using slide rule to compute trajectory); the bodies of Japanese soldiers of the 6th Imperial Division in the riverbed where they were caught by artillery fire; a flag is recovered; a Fijian Vickers machine gun post; Lieutenant-Colonel Upton, CO of the New Zealand battalion on Bougainville; a Sherman tank; Fijian troops playing cards; meal time; a badly wounded Fijian is brought in, given blood plasma, transferred to ambulance. (Unfinished).
