Synopsis

Film showing the community of Brunei, indicating how life here is changing fast.

The film shows: the history of Brunei's existence; its alliance with the Sultan of Borneo; the docks, which are kept busy with the export trade; the town, which is composed of an odd mixture of buildings; the planned rebuilding programme, which will make Brunei a modern city; the ancient arts and crafts that still flourish; the Syrian oilfields and their importance; the new hospital, and the coronation of a new ruler. The film concludes by saying that 'only in the oilfields does the speed of life improve. A new life is on its way. Will it challenge their claim to be known as the abode of peace?'
