Synopsis

How Malaya has developed its armed forces since the last war.

The Royal Malayan Navy, a small fleet with all the tradition of an ancient discipline, is profiled first; the ships are provided by Britain, the sailors come both from Britain and Malaya, and funding comes from Singapore. Next, the Malayan Regiment, which has raised and trained five new battalions since the liberation, which are being trained as the foundation of the army of the future. Also shown: the Royal Artillery and the Federation Regiment; the importance of Civil Defence, learning, for example, the techniques of firefighting and rescue work; Sunday soldiers and sailors who give time to get in readiness for the country's needs; the Federation Military College, Malaya's Sandhurst, founded to produce their own officers and leaders, aims to trade leaders in all walks of life not just the service; the Malayan Auxiliary Air Force which is the start of a prominent air force to come, whose members are all part-time volunteers putting in twelve hours a week and two weeks camp. "These are the men who give more than service to their country... building together the nation called the Federation of Malaya." The film concludes by saying that "these are the men who give more than service to their country... building together the nation called the Federation of Malaya".
