Synopsis

The Japanese Army constructed a road through the Arakan, Burma, from the An Valley to Taungup and Prome (Pyay), south of Mandalay; after the road was cut off by XV Indian Corps Japanese defences were inspected and the road used for British Army transportation.

A motorcycle travels along the road. A truck passes round a corner on the road; lots of dust is churned up. A small truck drives past, round a corner and down the hill. Another truck climbs the hill. A column of three trucks drives down the hill in the distance; the road is surrounded by jungle. A jeep drives downhill. A jeep and trailer drive past. A column of three Morris Quads drive past followed by two jeeps. Indian graves next to the road. The graves are covered in dozens of wooden stakes stuck into the ground. Close-up of a memorial roll of Indian troops which is hung from a tree. Close-up of one of the graves reads "Subedar Kakhmi Sighjat. Punjab Regiment. Village Jamalpur. P.O. Gowana Tahsil Koil Distt Aligarh. Killed in action dated 6.3.45". Long shot of a wooden bridge over a river. British soldiers walk over the bridge. A jeep drives up a road next to the river. Four men walk gingerly over a very rickety part of the bridge; it moves and wobbles as they walk. A Morris Quad tows a 25-pounder gun past. View of the river from the road; river craft can be seen crossing. An African MP (Military Policeman) lifts an improvised barrier to let a jeep drive through. The same is done for a lorry.
