Synopsis

Lieutenant-General Sir Philip Christison KBE CB MC leading a planning conference at Division HQ situated at Myebon, Burma

Present at the meeting are Captain D C Hill R W (Naval Commander Force 64), Group Captain H Pleasance RAF (XV Indian Corps RAF Liaison Officer), Brigadier D G Hawthorn (Brigadier General Staff, XV Indian Corps.), Major-General C E N Lomax CB OBE DSO MC (26th Indian Division), Major-General Wood G N OBE MC (25th Indian Division) and Major-General Stockwell DSO (82nd West African Division).

Notes

By this point, XV Indian Corps had achieved its primary objectives of securing airbases for the supply of 14th Army in Burma after the fall of Akyab Island and Ramree. However, it was decided that in order to maintain pressure on the Japanese, and to prevent the withdrawal of enemy forces into the Irrawaddy valley, offensive operations would be continued in the Arakan.
