Synopsis

Visit of the Reverend T Roberts, Society of Jesus, Archbishop of Bombay and Vicar Delegate to His Majesty's Forces in India and South East Asia, to 36th Division HQ at Bahe, Burma.

The Bishop gets out of the plane at 36th Division HQ and meets Roman Catholic Padre Father Clancy. The two men exchange greetings and chat. They are joined by Captain J C Riddel (Aide-de-Camp to General Festing) and they all drive off in a jeep. Close-up of the nose art of the plane, 'The Magic Carpet'.

Notes

At this point 36th Division was part of Northern Combat Area Command (NCAC) under the American Lieutenant-General Daniel Sultan. NCAC was a multi-national force comprising Mars Task Force (American and Chinese) and two Chinese Armies (New First Army and New Sixth Army) in addition to 36th British Division. 'The Magic Carpet' was General Sultan's personal aircraft.
