Men of 5th Maratha (Mahratta) Regiment reinforce landing sites around Setkhaw, Burma, which were taken during the night after shelling from the Royal Indian Navy Sloop HMIS Narbada and HMS Flamingo.

The dopesheet gives the following details of this operation. Troops of 53rd Brigade were embarked in LCIs (Landing Craft Infantry) at Myebon on the morning of 15 February 1945 before sailing for Ru-Ywa. They anchored overnight before transferring into the smaller LCAs and LCMs.Narbada and Flamingo provided naval gunfire support along with air support from the RAF. The landings were unopposed and made by men of 9th Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment, followed by 17th Battalion 5th Mahratta Regiment.

The purpose of these landings was to enable 2nd West African Brigade (82nd West African Division) and 74th Indian Brigade (25th Indian Division) to move north and attack Japanese forces being held near Tamandu.
