REHABILITATION OF AKYAB (31/1/1945 (ca))

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: JFU 2).

Synopsis

Harbour of Akyab Island, Burma, with Merchant Marine ships anchored offshore and the unloading of supplies to landing craft.

Landing craft sail from anchored merchant ships and arrive in the harbour. They off-load supplies. A tractor is driven off a landing craft onto shore. Supplies are unloaded from lorries. A Japanese bunker built into a temple and one built into a church are discovered and illustrate how this type of defence is constructed.
