Synopsis
Major-General Francis Festing, commander of 36th Division, seen attending a briefing.
High shot looking down as two officers, one of them (wearing a flying jacket with 36th Division insignia) is probably Major-General Festing, walking towards camera. A briefing; Major-General Festing is in attendance so this is probably a divisional briefing. Festing walks past a number of vehicles laden with men and equipment. Festing and another officer on horseback; Festing smokes a pipe as the two make their way up a steep track. Festing gets into the rear seat of a United States Army Air Force L-5 Sentinel.
Notes
No dopesheet for this film so details as to location, date, unit etc are unclear. 36th Division insignia are much in evidence, so the location is therefore northern Burma, possibly in early 1945.
The Museum's Photograph Archive holds photographs showing this briefing. Captions identify the officers at the briefing as being Festing and his brigadiers and staff officers. A number of American troops also appear to be in attendance, possibly liaison officers.
