Men marching along a city street in Rangoon with Shwedagon Pagoda visible in the background. A staff jeep arrives at a church (Old Garrison Church?) in Rangoon for a service of thanksgiving for the end of the war in Europe. Major-General Chambers, commander of 26th Indian Division and Military Governor of Rangoon, is driving. A staff captain sits next to him and two more men (one of them a soldier and the other an officer wearing the patch of 2nd Division) behind him. High wide shot from an opposite building showing men leaving the church and marching away. Chambers meets Brigadier Lauder, commander of 36th Brigade. Chambers inspects troops. A march past; Chambers takes the salute from a small saluting base. An American officer and the divisional padre are present.

Notes

Rangoon was reoccupied after an unopposed amphibious landing (Operation Dracula) by 26th Indian Division on 3 May 1945.

Footage from Rangoon river rather incongruous.
