Leese talking with officers of 5th Indian Division; note the 'ball of fire' divisional insignia. Talking with officers of 161 Brigade (5th Indian Division) on parade near a pagoda. Leese addresses men of 2nd Battalion, the Royal Berkshire Regiment, part of 98 Brigade of 19th Indian Division (the 'Dagger Division'). Sir Oliver Leese would shortly be replaced as Commander-in-Chief ALFSEA by William Slim (soon to be promoted to full General) following an ugly dispute over command of 14th Army for the upcoming Operation Zipper, the amphibious invasion of Malaya.
