Synopsis

Japanese prisoners of war (POWs) are shaved at 13 Indian Casualty Clearing Station. Two POWs prepare food; one stirs a pot of rice while another chops vegetables. An armed soldier stands guard. Seven sick or wounded POWs are carried on stretchers by Indian bearers. Stretcher cases on the ground, apparently tightly wrapped in blankets. The stretcher cases are carried into a tent. Japanese POWs wearing white hospital pyjamas walk into a tent; each carries a mess tin.

A staff car arrives carrying General Auchinleck. He gets out and inspects a number of British and Indian officers. He visits the site of a new bridge at Pegu. He looks at a map before going aboard a small ferry to cross the river.

A Japanese POW on a stretcher is lifted out of an ambulance and carried into a tent. Auchinleck visits the hospital at 13 Indian Casualty Clearing Station. A Japanese patient is tended to by a British nurse of the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS, known as QA's) and a Japanese nurse. A patient is helped out of the tent by the two nurses; they are followed by a British medical officer (a lieutenant). A masked Japanese doctor at work. Exterior view of a ward tent. A sign reads 'Ambulances this way'; slow left pan. Another sign reads 'Reception'. A road and a line of tents.
