Synopsis

The film shows Indian towns and villages, and highlights the production of silk, wheat, rice, sugar and jute.

The film opens with a map of India, which a title introduces as the 'land of Mosques and Temples' and as the 'land of three million people'. The film highlights the agricultural nature of the country and presents a series of industries. First it shows the 'Silk Areas' ¿ highlighted on a map ¿ and emphasises the 'primitive' nature of much of the work. Next is shows 'Wheat Areas', then 'Sugar Areas', 'Rice Areas' and finally 'Jute Areas'. In each case a map is used. Further titles emphasise the dangers of the area ('the indian jungle holds a menace for man and beast'). Finally, the film highlights the value of India and these industries to Britain, as a title explains that 'Big ships keep Britain and India in touch'.
