Synopsis

A variety of scenes from Singapore, including a Chinese victory parade, looting at the docks and a performance by a Royal Marine band for inmates at Sime Road prisoner of war camp.

Chinese victory parade in Singapore headed by a Chinese banner and Allied flags; among them a placard in English can be read which says 'Singapore Mayfair Musical and Dramatic Society Celebrates the Allied Victory'. A brass band passes. Footage apparently showing the looting of rolls of fabric 'by Chinese coolie elements' from a dockside warehouse. One young boy with a looted bale of fabric is seen holding a miniature British flag. At Sime Road prisoner of war camp a Royal Marine band performs for liberated internees, some of whom are young children. They play dance music and their music stands are marked 'Royal Blues' and 'HMS Sussex'.

Notes

Dopesheet names the leader of the band as Bandmaster Jackson.
