Synopsis
Brigadier Taunton, commander of 80th Indian Brigade (20th Indian Division) arrives at a Japanese airfield in Saigon as recovered Allied prisoners of war are flown out.
Brigadier Taunton inspects a Japanese aircraft, possibly a Nakajima J1N Gekko ('Irving'). Group of officers, wearing the sword insignia of 20th Indian Division, study a map. Standing by his car with a Japanese soldier nearby. Japanese soldier loads luggage into the boot. Lorries laden with freed prisoners of war and driven by Japanese drivers pass camera. Japanese man handcranking an engine. Men climbing aboard a lorry. Lorry driving away.
Notes
British Indian troops of 20th Indian Division were sent to southern Indo-China to disarm and intern Japanese personnel stationed there, recover Allied prisoners of war and internees (as seen in this film) and maintain law and order.
