FIRE AT KALLANG AIRPORT, SINGAPORE (3/10/1945)

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: JFU 359).

Synopsis

A fire blazes at the petrol dump of Kallang Airport, Singapore, and firefighters work to extinguish the flames.

Large petrol fire burning at night at Kallang with firefighters and tenders seen in silhouette.

Notes

This fire apparently started at around 2:00am and was brought under control in an hour, with service and civilian personnel attending.

With the only light source in this film being the fire itself, much of this is strikingly atmospheric and reminiscent of some of the footage of the London Blitz in 1940.
