Synopsis
On a rainy day at Sungei Patani in Kedah, Malaya, thousands of men of the Japanese 94th Division surrender, while the officers of the division lay down their swords before staging a marchpast.
Wide shot, taken on a rainy and overcast day, showing the Japanese 94th Division on parade at Sungei Patani. Wide shot panning along the massed division. Closer views of the division. Major-General G N Wood, commander 25th Indian Division, arrives. A number of Japanese senior officers are searched. A Japanese officer, probably Major-General Inoue (Inouye) splashes his way across the field towards camera. Inoue salutes and surrenders his sword on a table. More Japanese officers, evidently of lower rank, are obliged to lay their swords on the ground. They salute before turning about and running off across the wet field.
