Synopsis

Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith, recently returned Governor of Burma, attends a ceremonial feeding of the poor as part of the Buddhist Festival of Lights in Rangoon, Burma.

Burmese civilians waiting to receive Dorman-Smith. Dorman-Smith's car pulling up [six-foot section here fogged and totally white] and Dorman-Smith and Lady Dorman-Smith meeting the reception committee. Brief shot of three female dancers performing a pwe or traditional dance. More of the dance. Audience of civilians watching. Dim footage of people eating; they appear self-conscious and look warily at the camera.

The Buddhist Festival of Lights, or Thadingyut, marks the end of a three-month period of Vassa, sometimes referred to as the 'Rains Retreat' or 'the Buddhist Lent'.
