RAPID ASSEMBLY OF JEEP BY 60 INDIAN WORKSHOP COMPANY, INDIAN ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS

This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: JFU 426).

Synopsis

In Rangoon, capital of Burma, Indian other ranks (IORs) of 60 Indian Workshop Company of the Indian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (IEME) assemble a jeep in double quick time.

One continuous medium shot showing a section of eight IORs assembling a jeep from parts laid out in front of them. Completing the assembly in four minutes and seven seconds, the jeep drives out of frame.

Notes

Taken with JFU 427, which provides close-ups and cut-in shots of a clock face, this film gives a good impression both of the proficiency of the IEME, and of the simple, functional design of the jeep.

For other footage of IEME workshop companies at work in Rangoon, see related items.
