This film is held by the Imperial War Museum (ID: JFU 427).
Synopsis
In Rangoon, capital of Burma, Indian other ranks (IORs) of 60 Indian Workshop Company of the Indian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (IEME) assemble a jeep in double quick time.
A series of close-ups showing the jeep's engine being lowered onto the chassis, the front axle assembly being positioned, the rear axle being positioned, a rear wheel fitted (with close-up of nuts being tightened), the radiator being lowered into position, water poured into the radiator, the bonnet being shut, and the jeep driving out of shot. Series of cut-in shots showing a clock face for editing purposes. Group shot showing the Indian troops posing with the jeep they have just assembled.
Notes
Taken with JFU 426, which provides a continuous shot of the jeep being assembled, this film gives a good impression both of the proficiency of the IEME, and of the simple, functional design of the jeep.
