Notes

The MPAJA was an ethnic Chinese guerilla force which was allied to the Malayan Communist Party, and had been initially supported by the British before the fall of Singapore. Within a few years remnants of the MPAJA would reform as the Malayan National Liberation Army and would mount an armed insurgency against Commonwealth forces during the Malayan Emergency.
