CEREMONIAL PARADE IN BANGKOK ATTENDED BY KING OF SIAM AND LORD MOUNTBATTEN

Synopsis
Allied troops take part in a ceremonial parade in Bangkok, capital of Siam (Thailand), with His Majesty the King of Siam and Lord Louis Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia, in attendance.
First two shots junk. Royal Marine band passing. The King and the Queen Mother. Allied officers watching. Mountbatten and the King cross the parade ground. Mountbatten and the King arriving by car; a Thai officer (the King's aide de camp?) and Mountbatten step out first and salute the King. They mount a platform. The King and Mountbatten arrive at a saluting base on the Thanon Ratchadamnoen Klang (?) boulevard, near the Democracy Monument. Band passing. Sailors of the Royal Navy passing. Troops passing. Wide shot with the King on the saluting base. Marching feet. Thai officers crane their necks to watch passing aircraft (aircraft not seen). The King gets into his car. As the car departs a herald or bugler, sitting in the front seat, can be seen withdrawing his instrument and the car is followed by an escort of motorcycles with sidecars. Mountbatten, with characteristic smoothness, kisses the Queen Mother's hand as he departs.
Notes
The King of Siam was born on 20 September 1925. He succeeded to the throne in March 1935 aged only nine, and died of a gunshot wound in mysterious and controversial circumstances less than six months after this film was taken, in June 1946.
