Synopsis

Troops bound for Japan as part of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) parade at the Municipal Building in Singapore, and the salute is taken by the Supreme Allied Commander Lord Louis Mountbatten, and the BCOF commander Major-General David Cowan.

View of the steps of the Municipal Building in Singapore. Pipe band of 1st Battalion Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders passes. Kilted troops passing. Colour party passing. The senior officers on the saluting base come down the steps and Mountbatten departs by open-topped staff car with another officer, probably Brigadier P A B McKerron, the Deputy Chief Civil Affairs Officer, British Military Administration Malaya. Local civilians; pan to the steps with waiting officers and a number of women, representing the women's services of the occupation force, stepping down. Staff cars departing; a number are marked with the 'crossed keys' insignia of 2nd Division.
