Synopsis
British troops watch as Monastery Hill, a known Japanese Observation Post overlooking Mandalay, Burma, and Fort Dufferin are shelled in order to drive out Japanese soldiers.
Monastery Hill in the distance smoking from the artillery bombardment; troops look on from a distance. British troops in the countryside near Mandalay. Soldiers from 8th Battalion 12th Frontier Force Regiment advance (soft focus). A huge explosion blasts the wall of Fort Dufferin and British troops rush forward. A pagoda in Fort Dufferin is ablaze as troops advance towards the main gate of the fort. A tank waits outside the fort and troops watch the fort wall.
Notes
Mandalay, Burma's second city, was an objective of great importance due to its prestige value and logistical connections, and was also the site of a large Japanese supply dump.
