Synopsis
While visiting XV Corps area Lieutenant-General M B Burrows flies in to inspect 82nd West African Division on Gun Island near Ru-Ywa, Burma.
A guard of honour of around thirty men waits in rank formation on the landing strip. A Stinson L-5 Sentinel lands in front of them. Lieutenant-General M B Burrows Commander-in-Chief of West Africa Command is greeted by Major General Stockwell (General Officer Commanding 82nd West African Division); they take the salute and then inspect the men, pausing to talk to some. They walk off the airstrip and board a P (Patrol) Boat which takes them out to RIN Narbada (Royal Indian Navy) which they board to more salutes. They look at maps of the area. Burrows walks off down a rough road surrounded by his retinue. They get into jeeps and drive off. Close-up of road marker reading "44". Burrows watches men bathe in the river. The General visits a traditional style hut used as the signal office. Another inspection of West African troops takes place. Again, he looks at a map. The group walk past a sign reading "This way to Palm Court". West African troops fire rifles on the range. British troops gather for a photograph to be taken by the General. A group shot of the officers. Burrows and Stockwell shake hands and Burrows leaves on a P Boat.
