Synopsis

Whilst visiting XV Indian Corps area in Arakan (Burma) the Duke of Devonshire pays a visit to the commander of 82nd West African Division at Gun Island, Ru-Ywa.

Six Stinson L-5 Sentinel planes fly over the airstrip in two formation groups. An L-5 lands on the strip and passes a sign reading "Stevens' Field". The 10th Duke of Devonshire, Edward Cavendish, Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, leaves the plane and is greeted by Major-General H C Stockwell commander of 82nd West African Division. They also meet Mr Sabben-Clare of the Colonial Office. They all walk off the strip and board a P (Patrol) Boat. Back on land at headquarters the group study a map of the area and are shown how to load a captured Japanese rifle. The Duke aims the rifle and inspects a captured Japanese sword. Sabben-Clare talks to some of the West African troops. The Duke and Sabben-Clare talk to officers by the side of their L-5 Sentinel. They board the plane and it takes off. A West African soldier salutes (several takes).
