Synopsis
The reel consists of numerous shots, with occasional intertitles, in no particular order, including the following (but see notes): (B&W) Amphibious exercise at Slapton Sands, Devon - light vehicles drive on to the beach from a landing craft; beach carpet trials with motor cycle; troops establish a mess. (Colour) Naval gunnery practice. An armed trawler passes camera vessel. (B&W) HMS Southampton while fitting out. (Colour) HMS Southampton filmed from a approaching launch. (B&W) Close-ups of motor boat engine in workshop. (Colour) HMS Southampton passes under Forth railway bridge with 2nd Town Class and Leander class ships for trials. Brief sequences: 1935 Spithead Review - destroyers in line ahead; Mediterranean deck scenes, crew relaxing, convoy shots in rough sea; 1935 Spithead Review - HMS Newcastle; christening on board HMS Southampton; HMS Glorious and other ships and small yachts at Spithead Review.
