Synopsis

Regimental record, with detailed commentary by commanding officer, of parade by 1st Battalion The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment in Aden in presence of Princess Alexandra of Kent, Sir Charles Johnston (Governor of Aden) and Air Marshal Sir Charles Elworthy on 7 December 1961. Regimental marches played by band include "Life on the Ocean Wave", "The Huntingdonshire", A Southerly Wind and Cloudy Sky" and "Braganza". Departing spectators include sultans, sheikhs and heads of Arab States of the Western Aden Protectorate.

Notes

Production: note in file by Lieutenant Colonel M A Lowry M.C. dated August 1964 indicates that film was taken by "a Native of the then Aden Colony, the introductory element showing the programme was filmed by a Chinaman in Hong Kong in 1962. Music and commentary were later recorded on to tapes by members of the Band and the Commanding Officer in the Regimental Cinema in Hong Kong."
