Synopsis

(Black & White) Shot from a train window along carriages. People hanging out of windows (most waving small pieces of white cloth). Shots of a steep drop to the valley below. The train winds along a hillside track, and passes a trackside signal. Sentries stands guard outside a tent. Expedition supplies are sorted by British? officers and Indians? A group of officers? pose for the camera. Scenes of mules playing up, resisting load. Loading mules for expedition. An elevated view of the mule train leaving along a hillside track, followed by soldiers. Close-up of the soldiers and mules passing by, close-up on the soldiers feet. Shots of the mule train passing military vehicles parked on the roadside. Various views of the mule train. A Burmese man washes his shoes, two others wash clothes in a stream. Scenes of men washing in the stream and mules grazing in a field. Shots of the men eating and drinking. A shot of tents in the camp. A Burmese soldier? feeds a horse. Local people sit with baskets of goods (rice and vegetables etc for exchange?). They wait in a line and medicine is administered by Indian soldiers? Mules eating hay. A view of the village and adhacent tents. An elevated view of the column through pass. Shots of mules walking through water and mud. Close-ups of a mule's tail and the strap securing its load.
