Synopsis

I. 'NEWS FROM ENGLAND.' HMS Indefatigable is launched down a Clydebank slipway as gathered crowds look on (completed May 5 1944). King George VI is given a tour of Indefatigable in Portsmouth prior to the ship sailing for the Far East. Accompanying the King on his visit are Queen Elizabeth and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret. King George VI inspects a guard of honour drawn from Royal Navy (RN) ratings and a contingent of the ship's Royal Marines. The Royal party later perform an inspection tour of King George V. Princess Elizabeth and Margaret are shown visiting the different areas of the ship. Queen Elizabeth meets Rear-Admiral Sir Philip Vian on the deck of King George V. The Royal party are piped ashore.

II. 'THE BIG THREE MEETING.' The national flags of Britain, United States and Russia fly at an airfield near Sebastopol (Crimea). Soviet Commissar for Foreign Affairs, Vyacheslav M Molotov meets Field Marshal Harold R L G Alexander at the airfield and is later shown walking with Alexander, Field Marshal Alan F Brooke and Air Marshal Sir Charles Portal. Anthony Eden (British Foreign Secretary) and Edward R Stettinius (US Secretary of State) pose for official photographs. On his arrival in the Crimea for the Yalta Conference, British Prime Minister Winston Spencer Churchill chats to United States President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who is seated in a slow-moving Willys 4x4 Jeep. Marshal Josef Stalin visits the British delegation based at the Vorontsov Palace. Molotov and Stettinius chat amicably as they walk along an oak-panelled corridor in the Vorontsov Palace, Eden trails behind. Views of assembled delegates at the Foreign Ministers conference follow (held in the Vorontsov). Churchill, Eden and Stalin arrive at the Livadia Palace overlooking the Black Sea for the main Yalta Conference. Interior panning footage shows the Yalta delegates seated at the conference table. Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt pose for photographs in the garden of the Livadia Palace.

III. 'EGYPT MOURNS A GREAT LEADER.' Egyptian religious and political dignitaries gather in Cairo for the state funeral of assassinated Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Mahir Pasha (Sa'dist Party). Extended footage shows the funeral cortge as moves down Ibrahim Pasha Street. Lord Killearn (Sir Miles Lampson) stands with unidentified Egyptian dignitaries. A contingent of the Egyptian Army performs a slow march with sloped Lee-Enfield Mk III .303-inch rifles. Egyptian civilians use the Ibrahim Pasha monument as a vantage point to view the funeral cortge as it passes. Egyptian naval ratings carry the coffin of their dead leader.
