WESTWARD TO THE EAST

This film is held by the BFI (ID: 665224).

Synopsis

Amateur travelogue. Mr. and Mrs. Brown continue their world tour and reach their next destination, the Philippines. They visit Manila and notice the huge gap between rich and poor; they see mansions that are being protected by armed guards, as well as the city's slums. They also visit the sourrounding countryside before returning to the cargo ship, the Queensville, once more, and sailing to Hongkong. After a brief stay there, they travel to Thailand, where they visit various sights, for instance the Emperor's Palace, in the capital Bangkok. They also meet some Buddhist monks and see a Hindu Wedding before returning to Hong Kong. This time, they stay for a few days and visit various places in the city as well as in the sourrounding countryside. They admire the bamboo scaffolding on a construction site and find a nice spot outside Hong Kong where they have a swim in the sea. The Browns next stop is Taiwan, where they see some people harvesting rice and visit a temple.
