Synopsis

The beginning of the Prince of Wales' tour 1921-22, including Bombay and Jodhpur.

"Our greatest ambassador". "The smile that wins our hearts", Shot of the Prince.

"Bombay. H.E. The Viceroy (the Earl of Reading) leaving to welcome HRH The Prince on board HMS `Renown'."

"HRH inspects the Guard of Honour of British Naval Contingent and Indian Infantry".

"Sir Sassoon David Bart presents an address of welcome from the Bombay municipality. He moves to dais. The Prince reads a message from his father. Royal procession, in horse-drawn carriages, through Bombay to Government House in Malabar Point. Huge crowds watch the procession and wave. When procession has passed the crowds surge across the road.

A Durbar held at Government House by HRH. Guests arriving; Durbar not seen. "HRH The Prince visits Poona and lays the foundation stone of the Maratha War Memorial'. The Prince inspects Indian war veterans.

"Watch this old fellow. He was so excited that he failed to notice the Prince's proffered hand".

"State arrival at Poona Racecourse". Racing scenes.

Inspection of boy scouts and soldiers in Bombay.

"HRH the Prince presenting new colours to the famous fighting regiment the 7th Rajputs" .

"Baroda. Arrival at Laxmi Vilas Palace". Prince inspects guard of honour of 98th Infantry.

"Baroda garden party in the gardens of Muti Bagh. The famous gold and silver guns drawn by sacred men".

"Baroda state elephants arriving". Elephants elaborately adorned and carrying people.

Jump cut to scenes of people working in the country [different film?}.

"Udaipur panoramic view of Jag Dish, Hindu temple town". "View of the Maharaja's palace" and "Island palace at Udaipur, the city of lakes".

"The Prince visits the famous `Bar a Dari' at Jodphur - a marble relic'.

HRH with Girl Guides. Women water carriers.

"The Prince pays a state visit to H.H. The Maharaja Sahib Bahadur at Ratanda Palace, Jodphur'

"An early morning meal (or pigsticking expedition)". "HRH after a kill"

"Types of the Mahraja's retainers in medieval armour and quaint costumes". Various shots.

"Scenes [in Jodphur] in the Sardar market - a boy and girl wedding". Their robes are tied together. Camel trasnport, pulling cart and carrying loads.

"The Royal train arrives at Bikaner". HRH arrives at Lallgarh Palace - inspects the Camel Corps.
