Synopsis

COMPILATION. A selection of films from the series including sections from native India, Imperial India, Japan and Ceylon.

Cotton yarn hanging out to dry on large wooden tressels and posts (832-852). "Fisher Folk Cottages in a Cocoanut Grove on the Coramandel Coast" (860). An even more primitive irrigation device; four men, in pairs, swing a leather bag through water and drain contents over a dyke (943-967). Bullocks tread out rice (972-982); women stack and gather straw and form a huge straw stack in the shape of a house. The stack is very large and needs the use of two long ladders to finish the top (1003). Two boys pound rice in a wooden mortar (1006-1028). LS of beach and the launching of a fishing boat (1031-1057). Shot along the beach as a two-man catamaran is brought in to the shore (1061-1065). A net is hauled in by the villagers (1136). "H.H. the Nizam of Hyderabad entertains a Persian Prince with a Cheetah party" (1461). A convoy of horses and carts seen along a road (1477). One of the carts holds a blindfolded cheetah (1488); MCU of same (1499). MCU of black buck - the game (1512). LS of the cheetah attacking the buck, men try to drag it away (1518); MCU of same (1522). The cheetah is lured back to the cart, once it is blindfolded, by the blood of the buck (1565). A white man strokes the cheetah's back at the cart (1573).
